Psychology Learning Community

Trasnfer Learning Community (TLC)

The department is excited to offer a new learning community designed especially for incoming transfer majors, The Transfer Learning Community, or TLC!  The TLC is an academic learning community which consists of a block schedule of courses that all TLC members are enrolled in during their first semester on campus. Through these courses and related co-curricular activities, students build community with other transfer majors and their faculty and advisors. The TLC is designed to facilitate the following learning outcomes:

  • To foster a successful transition for transfer students to UNC Charlotte
  • To introduce students to the discipline and department of Psychology at UNC Charlotte
  • To expose students to opportunities for campus engagement and encourage involvement
  • To engage students in self-assessment and self-discovery activities that promote academic success and career planning
  • To explore the sub-disciplines within Psychology and their associated career paths
  • To teach students about university resources and how to take advantage of them
  • To foster the creation of a real community—one which fosters lasting friendships among students and meaningful connections with faculty and staff
